Oh man, Ein/Elen’s back in action!
In my opinion, the best of all spring anime is Phantom ~Requeiem for the Phantom~. It’s the only one that started great and continues to maintain its high standard, actually improving as each episode passes. In fact, it has a good chance to extend into the summer season and remain as my favorite.
Azuma Reiji/Zwei as the new Phantom is nothing short of pure awesome. No longer does he have anything holding him back. Well, unless you count one person that he believes to be dead… Until this moment, he’s been the perfect assassin for Inferno. Now, with the reappearance of Elen and Scythe Master getting back into the picture, anything’s bound to happen. Something crazy good I hope.
As for Cal, it’s amazing how fast she’s learning from Reiji. What took him days of strict training under Ein is accomplished in the span of one afternoon by the young girl. I have a feeling that her genius skills will come into play soon, probably to save Reiji when he confronts Elen. Still, her story seems a bit too uplifting. Everything seems to be going well for her. She’s an underling of the best hitman in the underworld. She’s learning how to exact revenge with her own hands. That just leads me to think that Cal’s life will be the most messed up out of them all. Either that or I’ve been reading too much Umineko no Naku Koro ni.
All in all, a great episode that set things up for another showdown between Reiji and Scythe Master. With Elen alive and apparently brainwashed again, there should be an epic battle underway.
