Kannagi – Episode 8

kannagi

Nyah!

Screw Chaos; Head with Takumi’s bloody delusions.
I rather be like Daitetsu with delusions of neko-Nagi.

Brief Summary

Daitetsu takes shelter from the rain after being detained by the police due to his intimidating figure. There, he begins to doubt Nagi’s sisterly relationship with Jin, wondering if it could be… more. After a while, he confronts the two… and then realizes that Nagi isn’t really Jin’s sister. He found the plans for Jin’s sculpture and put two-and-two together… thinking that the Nagi was the model for the statue. However, his discovery soon reversed on him since he admitted to be the one who provided Jin with the sacred wood. Because of that, he’ll be cursed and struck by lightning. During the storm, there was a blackout but Daitetsu overreacted. He ran to the shrine to pray for forgiveness. Just when a bolt of lightning was about to hit him, Nagi used her powers to save him, sheltering him from the heavenly strike. And so, Jin isn’t the only one to know about Nagi’s true nature.

However, that brought up many issues about what Daitetsu should do from now on, spawning misunderstandings when he “confronted” Jin beneath the stairs. Of course, Takako imagined some friendship-turned-yaoi relationship. The episode ended with the Art Club walking in on a Nagi vs. Daitetsu showdown.

Impressions

Oh. MY. NAGI!!

I could not stop laughing all through the episode. Nagi returns with her lethal strikes, the beautifully done stills that perfectly capture her kick and uppercut. Daitetsu’s daydreams were out there but very amusing to watch, especially the part about Jin’s birthday turning out to be more… and then Jin bedding Nagi. Very funny and the language barrier didn’t stop me from enjoying this.

Unlike the previous episodes, there was some development here. Goddess Nagi returns to save Daitetsu and there’s a bigger issue at the end of the episode, whether or not Nagi’s true identity should be revealed. Frankly, I don’t think Daitetsu would spill the beans since there’s still the Zange/Hakua issue. Besides, he’s not 100% sure on Nagi being a spirit-turned-human.

This is the last part of the manga that I’ve read so future episodes would be on material that I have no clue about. Still, I have high hopes for the remainder of the series :)

  1. hahaha Awesome pictures!

    Kitty! :3

Looks like Nagi will gain a cult status akin to Haruhi :P

  2. Haruhi who? o_o

  3. hehe THAT ONE! Ok, Rei Ayanami then :P

  4. I insist on asking, who is this Haruhi you speak of?

    And Rei… well… she’s mai waifu.

  5. Well, She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is too evil to spell her name out completely :P

  6. What’s with the xxx caption?

  7. The “x x x” serves more to break images apart, rather than have them be a solid stream. Usually I would make some kind of caption every 2-3 picture but with ~45 posted, I felt it easier just to do a mass summary at the end.

  8. holy shit @ last picture

that’s the most lolirific nagi pic i’ve EVER seen!

  9. Cept Nagi’s kinda… really old. :)
