The End of a Dream

Kouta was revived… but at the cost of Lucy’s life.

Brief Summary

With their military might useless against Lucy’s vectors, the board seriously considered nuking their own country. With no other ideas, silence reigned as each person weighed the consequences.

Until the phone rang… and they got the surprising news that Lucy had stopped attacking.

Back at the tower, Kouta woke up… only to find Lucy’s remains before him.

Covering her deformed body with his jacket, Kouta asked why… only to be answered by Nana.

Lucy confirmed that she saved him from certain death… even if she had no memory of it. Then, the other members of the inn arrived.

Happy to see that Kouta’s alive, it was only later when they noticed the fleshy bits around them. He revealed that it was all that remained of Nyuu.

However, their tearful reunion was interrupted by the sounds of a helicopter. A squad of military men approached them with guns drawn, demanding Lucy’s body.

Impressions

So Lucy’s still alive but little more than a lump of flesh… and her future seems bleaker than before. Either she’ll use her powers again to drive the armed men off or wind up living the remainder of her life in the same research facilty she escaped from. The former will kill her since there’s barely anything left to dissolve… while the latter will just be prolonging death.

As for the other girls arriving to the scene at the same time (Nana not included), I found that a bit of a stretch. The series was reaching too far for additional drama. Something that is ok if done right… which is not the case here. Either way, their arrival just gave the military more hostages to bargain with. Not good for Kouta or Lucy…
