Double Arts – Chapter 18

A change in plans… for the road ahead…

Brief Summary

The chapter starts out with the lone figure running through the woods. It turns out to be a Sister, Andie Frau. It also seems that she’s the only survivor from the Falzen brigade sent for Kiri and Elle.

Back where the other members of the Falzen were, they look up at the sadistic grin of Zezu as he mocks their lowly state.

Surprised by how easy it was in defeating them, he wondered if Kiri was still alive since Avro was sent. The hooded figure revealed that the assassin team was defeated by Farran and told him to hurry up since they’ll otherwise be late for a meeting. After making a face, Zezu restarts his attack while the Sisters calmly accept their fate, confident that Andie got away.

Back in Deoddrad, Sui rejoins the group and she had developed a new attitude…

When Elle made the normal call to Sister Martha, they learned the news about the Falzen sent for them. The entire group except one was destroyed and Andie’s fate is unknown, losing contact quickly after she reported in.

Sister Martha was about to order more Falzen members to depart when Kiri butted in, not wanting any more people to get hurt. As he said, if their strongest were defeated, any more people would follow the same fate.

Meeting up at the fortune teller’s house, everyone struggled to come up with a new plan. Worried for Elle, Kiri got a sudden response that surprised him… but he realized that was just her putting up a brave front.

Kiri finally reveals his plan, which was to get to Headquarters on their own. Sui would be coming along as well as Farran. However, the latter would not be coming on board as a bodyguard. Instead, Kiri wants him to be their instructor, to teach Elle and him a way to fight as partners.

Impressions

Well, we see Zezu again and it wasn’t too surprising how the Falzen ended up beaten and bruised. Andie, the new character and friend of Elle, should still be alive though I think she’ll be used as bait later on. After all, her status is unknown and the Gazelle could have kidnapped her. This route would be a lot more interesting than the typical “stumble into camp” development.

As for Sui, she reappears but served as the comedic break between the Falzen incident and the group hearing about it. I do hope that the next chapter would show more of her crazy self. Back to Zezu, the cloaked people he was with seem to be other members of the “Top 11” of the Gazelle organization. Even though this chapter sets him up like the big bad boss, the others might be even stronger since their identities are still unknown (unlike Zezu’s).

EDIT:
Have the Falzen ever heard of body armor? Sure… have armor on the arms but don’t protect other vitals?

  1. Zezu is actually just crazy. Who would use crows to fight people?
